4 Low 4 Adventure began back in 2016 and, somehow, through a combination of questionable decisions and the occasional viral moment, it’s grown into a place where wild ideas tend to become even wilder realities. So it feels perfectly on-brand that we’ve now found ourselves launching a rally team. And not just any rally team – Guincho Racing, a gloriously accidental, adventure-soaked, “how hard can it be?” leap into the world of endurance rallying.
Guincho Racing is, according to the website (which I wrote) “fast, fearless and fuelled by adventure” In reality? It was born because Matt Skeggs and I signed up for one of the world’s last truly great adventures the Africa Eco Race 2026 before realising what we’d actually done. Once our places were confirmed, panic set in. We needed a rally car. And racing licences. And FIA safety kit. And, as it turns out, a surprising amount of money. Which meant corporate sponsors. Which meant suddenly we needed a race team. And just like that Guincho Racing was born.
We’ll be competing in the Africa Eco Race in 2026, taking an incredible group of sponsors along for the ride, because one thing became obvious very early on: paying professionals to turn our 1991 Range Rover Classic (“Roger”) into a race-ready machine was wildly expensive. So we turned to like-minded adventurous companies with the same glint in their eye, who didn’t mind joining a team that is equal parts determination, chaos, and enthusiasm. We promised them global fame, epic storytelling, and maybe, just maybe, a finish line in Dakar.
Taking part in the second longest endurance race on earth is an incredible adventure, building the car to do it in with almost no knowledge or experience make the who adventure more fun. We have all seem Days of Thunder – Cole Trickle’s mechanic Harry whispering fondly to a stock Daytona car in his garage, Hans Zimmer playing power ballards and before you know it with some fancy livery he made a whole race car ready to compete at Daytona, it has been a little harder and longer for us…
Today, finally, we can officially announce that Guincho Racing is alive. The car is built. The roll cage is in. The suspension is lifted. The interior is stripped. The seats are fitted. The electrical system is (mostly) behaving. And the base livery is wrapped and ready to celebrate our awesome sponsors.
With the race kicking off in January 2026 in Tangier, our Christmas “holiday” will mostly involve finishing the world’s longest to-do list, tightening everything that can possibly be tightened, and testing the car until something breaks… and then trying to fix that too.
Stick around. This is going to be one hell of an adventure.
